Bring the right ID
You need a valid government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older. A passport works for international visitors. An expired ID will not get you in.
Shops near the sights
Pick the shop closest to where you already are. LA traffic punishes cross-town trips.

Hotels and rentals
Property owners can ban cannabis, and most hotels do not allow it in guest rooms. If you are booking a short-term rental, check the house rules before you arrive.
Where you can actually use it
Not on the beach, the boardwalk, in parks or on the sidewalk. Those are public places. You can use cannabis on private property where the owner allows it, or at a licensed consumption lounge. The Artist Tree in West Hollywood runs one upstairs.
Rental cars and rideshare
Keep products sealed or in the trunk. An open container in a vehicle is illegal for drivers and passengers, and driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal.
Before you fly home
Finish it or leave it. Cannabis is illegal under federal law, you cannot take it across state lines, even to another legal state, and you cannot bring it onto federal land like national parks.
